S.O.A.P. method

Go the extra mile and journal your own thoughts about the reading.

S – Scripture – Open your Bible to the reading for the day. Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. When you are done, look for a verse that particularly spoke to you that day, and write it down.

O – Observation – What did you observe while reading today? What words jumped off the page? What seemed interesting or is something you didn’t notice before?

A – Application – Apply God’s Word to your life in a practical way. How does the reading apply to you? Is there a change you need to make?

P – Prayer – Write down and actually pray to ask God to help change you with the words you read. Pray that He would help you to understand His Word better and draw you closer to Him.
