John 13:3
Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God.

When you know where you’re from and where you’re going, you will not be manipulated.

Ephesians 2:1-3
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins ² in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— ³ among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind.

Deceptive Ideas (devil) that play to Disordered Desires (flesh), that are normalized in a Sinful Society (world).

The Devil – Deceptive Ideas  

John 8:44
He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

The devil’s end goal is death.

The devil’s primary strategy is deception.

If you don’t know who you are, you’ll believe anything. If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll follow anyone.

We fight lies with the truth.

The Flesh – Disordered Desires 

Our strongest desires are not our deepest desires.

Matthew 26:38-39
He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” 39 He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

Galatians 5:19-21
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, ²¹ envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

The World – Normalized Behavior

John 17:14-18
I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. ¹⁵ I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. ¹⁶ They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. ¹⁸ As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
