‘The 33’ is a movie based on the true story of 33 miners in the country of Chile. The story follows  Mario Sepulveda and Luiz Urzua (Don Lucho) a foreman and supervisor working deep underground  with a team of 31 other miners.

There are four parts to this story of this mine disaster that parallel each of our lives. We can each see  ourselves at some point in the story today. 

1. The Lost.

Ephesians 2:12 NLT
In those days you were living apart from Christ…You lived in this world without God and without hope.

Love does whatever is necessary to save those who are perishing.

Love sacrifices and does whatever it takes.

2. The Search

Every life is valuable to God. God’s heart of love is desperate for each of us to be saved… just like the families of the miners.

Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”  

Love does whatever is necessary to save those who are perishing, so God sent His only Son,  Jesus, to seek and save the lost. To rescue us!

3. The Rescue

Luke 15:6-7
… call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost  sheep.’

There is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!  

Luke 15:23-24
…We must celebrate with a feast, for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was  lost, but now he is found.’

If you’re apart from God today, God isn’t mad at you, He is looking for you to come home. He doesn’t  want you to be separated from Him. He loves you and can’t wait to welcome you home.  

Romans 8:13-14
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 But how can they call on him to  save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about  him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
