John 13:2-5
2 During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him, 3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, 4 rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. 5 Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

John 13:14-15, 17
14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

God designed us to work and calls us to serve.

Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

4 LESSONS TO BE USED BY GOD IN YOUR WORK LIFE

1. Serving prepares you for LARGER responsibilities.

Serve low so that you can lead high.

Matthew 25:23
His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

2. Work allows you to PARTNER with God.

Ecclesiastes 3:13
And people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God.

3. God will judge our WORK from a different perspective than the world does.

Colossians 3:23-24
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. 24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

4. When you are a servant others catch a glimpse of JESUS.

Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

John 13:14
If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

2 Corinthians 2:15
For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.
