Broken But Beautiful
God doesn’t want to dwell in buildings; He came to dwell in people.
Luke 1:26–27
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.
Luke 1:28
And he came to her and said, ‘Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!’
Luke 1:30
Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
God’s favor isn’t earned by perfection; it’s received through surrender.
Luke 1:31-33
And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.
Luke 1:34
And Mary said to the angel, ‘How will this be, since I am a virgin?’
Doubt closes the door on faith; wonder opens it.
Luke 1:35
The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.
Luke 1:37
For nothing will be impossible with God.
Luke 1:38

Beauty begins with breaking.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Psalm 51:17

1 John 1:9

Jeremiah 18:3–4
So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.
Isaiah 64:8
But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
God doesn’t ask for perfection; He asks for permission.
2 Corinthians 4:6–7
For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
