A grateful home his a grace-full home.

Why do we pray at the table?

1. It’s biblical.

Matthew 15:36
Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, thanked God for them, and broke them into pieces. He gave them to the disciples, who distributed the food to the crowd.

Matthew 26:26
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

Acts 27:35
Then he took some bread, gave thanks to God before them all, and broke off a piece and ate it.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

Psalm 119:164
I will praise you seven times a day because all your regulations are just.

So how do we pray over meals?

1. Pray at the beginning of the meal.

2. Should we hold hands or fold our hands?

3. Pray over the meal, not over the groceries.

4. Our prayers should be from our heart.

5. Prayers should never be irreverent.

6. Prayers should be out loud.

2. God is so good to us.

eucharisto – one is under obligation to be thankful; to express appreciation for the benefits or blessings

Psalm 65:11
You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

1 Samuel 2:7-8
The LORD makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up. He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor. For all the earth is the LORD’s, and he has set the world in order.
