In Harmony
Psalm 19:1-2
“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.”
Step 1: Before you can be in harmony, you need to first be in tune.
Many of our lives are wrapped-up, using other people to reference what it looks like, sounds like and feels like to walk with God.
Galatians 6:4-5 NLT “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.”
Just as a musical instrument needs to be tuned to produce the desired sound, our hearts and minds need tuning to resonate with God’s will.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV)
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Step 2: Before you are in harmony, you need to first know your relationship to the fundamental.
The word fundamental is defined as forming a necessary base or core; of central importance.
Mark 12:29-30
“Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ “
Your relationship, like the concept of Harmony, requires both proximity and surrender to the fundamental.
James 4:8 NLT
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
Step 3: To be in harmony, you need to know the impact of your position.
Mark 12:31
“The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
Colossians 3:14-15
“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”
John 17:13-25
