Week 1 – The Foundation of Legacy

Spend what I have.

Do what I want.

I want it now.

I need more.

Malachi 3:8-10

Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. 10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28

“See, I’m setting before you today a blessing and a curse. The blessing if you obey the command of the Lord your God I’m giving you today. The curse if you disobey the command of the Lord your God and turn from the way I command you today by following other gods.”

1: “I can’t afford to tithe.”

Psalm 37:25

“I’ve been young, now I’m old. Yet I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread.”

2: “I think tithing is the Old Testament standard.”

Matthew 23:23

What sorrow awaits you, teachers of religious law, and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

3: “I may not tithe, but I’m faithful.”

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
